What are your main tasks in the project?

Delfland is involved in Work Packages (WP) 3 and 6 of the PROMISCES project: we are a main supplier for research material for the development of sampling extraction and analysis methods in WP3 and WP1. Moreover, we participate in the supervision of the PhD research in WP3.
In WP6, we are developing an online course, referred to as a professional education (ProfEd). We are doing this together with Kim Lompe, Jonathan Schieren, and the New Media Centre of TU Delft.

What are your goals?

Our goals in the project are to obtain a solid sampling and analysis protocol for streams derived from the wastewater treatment process, such as sludge, struvite and effluent. For our work in WP6, our aim is to provide an open access course with accessible information for involved but not yet informed colleagues working in the water cycle, be it water professionals, researchers or others.

What do you particularly like about the project?

We love the European cooperation with all these knowledgeable partners. The fact that we are all in this water cycle together is very helpful and provides all of us with better knowledge, experience and relevant contacts.

How does your work help the general public?

Delfland treats the wastewater of close to 2 million people – all relevant knowledge obtained in the PROMISCES project will be implemented directly in our daily operation. Moreover, through our networks with other water authorities, research institutes, the Dutch Water Authority and other public organisations, the insights obtained will trickle down to other Dutch institutes. The link is very obvious, helpful and relevant.
