Steering Committee in Barcelona

From 19 - 20 March 2024, the PROMISCES partners came together in Barcelona (Spain) for the Steering Committee Meeting. The meeting was organized by our partners from EURECAT and the project coordinator BRGM.

On the first day, the Work Packages and Case Studies presented themselves, their progress and ongoing work. The outcomes and results achieved by our partners were actively debated during the poster session. Moreover, Work Package 5 organized a World Café regarding the PROMISCES recommendations for EU policy strategies and action plans, where all participants had the chance to share their ideas and knowledge in respect to prevention, treatment, monitoring and safety assessment of pollutants.

On Wednesday, the second and the last day of the meeting, the partners discussed the future proceedings regarding the project and how to exploit the presented results.

Afterwards, the PROMISCES partners had the opportunity to visit the Montornès del Vallès Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), where the part of the Case Study 3 (CS#3) “Water reuse for agricultural irrigation from a wastewater treatment plant“ is carried out. In addition to a tour of the WWTP process, the participants viewed the CS#3 electrochemical oxidation pilot plant, which is set to begin operation by mid-April. Furthermore, the CS#3 implemented new design of constructed wetlands for further contaminant removal and adjusted the operation conditions with two different plant species for future experminets. The visit was organized by the colleagues from Consorci Besòs Tordera.

The Steering Committee Meeting was a wonderful possibility for all project partners to exchange on site on knowledge and progress made in different tasks and to engage in fruitful conversations.
