10th International Workshop and Summer School on Plasma Physics (IWSSPP), 4–9 July 2022, Kiten, Bulgaria

IWSSP

For the tenth time, the International Workshop and Summer School on Plasma Physics brought together experienced and young scientists, PhD students and post-docs from Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Japan.

The participants presented and discussed on the latest results in the fields of Fusion Plasma and Materials; Plasma Modelling and Fundamentals; Plasma Sources, Diagnostics and Technology, including Plasma application in Biology, Medicine, Agriculture and Ecology. This year the important emphasis of the conference was on the development and implementation of plasma technologies in the final stage of clean technologies such as elimination of toxic pollutants in water, sludge and concentrates after reverse osmosis.

During the conference the Horizon 2020 project PROMISCES was presented by participants from Sofia University through their research on plasma treatment to reduce the toxicity of leachate and sludge from municipal solid waste landfills. This research reveals opportunities for innovations and development of technologies for elimination and management of toxic pollutants in water, wastewater, waste and sediments. The scientific infrastructure and equipment for the research is financed by the Operational program “Science and Education for Smart Growth” 2014-2020, co-financed by the European union through the European structural and investment funds.

Traditionally the conference took place in Kiten, Bulgaria, organized by Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the Centre of Competence “Clean & Circle”.
