MOOC Course
This course builds a bridge between scientists and professionals working across the water cycle. PFAS information has historically been scattered, making it hard for non-experts to get a complete overview. The course compiles PFAS knowledge from production and use through to treatment and destruction.
It follows an intuitive structure: starting with PFAS origin, chemistry, and nomenclature; presenting national standards and reported concentrations in the urban water cycle; explaining analytical methods; and concluding with technologies for PFAS separation and final destruction. Each weekly chapter includes written textbook material, videos, and suggested readings.
Created by environmental engineers Mariska Ronteltap and Kim Lompe, the video content spans studio lectures, lab demonstrations, partner interviews, and on-site footage. A basic understanding of chemistry is recommended, but the course remains accessible to non-experts.
The course was co-developed by PROMISCES and TU Delft, leveraging TU Delft’s educational support, recording studio, and assessment expertise.
All materials, including videos, are freely accessible to the public.
