Final PROMISCES Consortium Meeting
30 April, 2025
On 23 and 24 April, 2025, we had our final Consortium Meeting in Orléans, hosted by BRGM!
On the first day, the PROMISCES results and innovations were presented to the partners and guests, including advances in identification and monitoring of PFAS/ iPMTs in the soil-sediment-water system and learnings from our seven case studies. Advances on sources, pathways and fate & transport of iPMT/PFAS were equally introduced as removal and remediation solutions. Integrating the technical innovations, PROMISCES developed several tools and guidance documents, such as our Decision Support Framework (DSF) for risk management of PM(T)s in a circulareconomy, policy briefs and recommendations and a collaborative CEN workshop agreement on "Soil-sediment-water system - Solutions to deal with PMT/vPVM substances".
The second day was dedicated to project-internal discussion about the achievements, challenges and suggestions for further investigation encountered during the 3,5 years of the project. A special thank you goes out to our External Advisory Board members Johan De Fraye, Marco Falconi, and Philippe Quevauviller for all of their valuable advice and support during the project lifetime.
At BRGM facilities, we had the wonderful opportunity to visit the several labs and the case study 6 pilot that investigated fate, transport and (bio)remediation of soil and groundwater contaminated by PFAS from firefighting foams.
The meeting concluded with a visit to beautiful castle Ferté Saint Aubinand and a lovely dinner as a last opportunity to enjoy the company of the Consortium members in person. Many thanks to all PROMISCES partners for the fruitful collaboration and all of the BRGM team, especially Julie Lions, as our host and project coordinator!
