Farewell from PROMISCES!

4 July 2025
42 months, 27 partners, 7 case studies - in May, the PROMISCES project came to an end. In these 3.5 years, we were able to achieve a lot.
Our highlights:
- Under the motto ‘Working towards solutions for emerging, persistent mobile industrial contaminants - Circular Economy in the Soil-sediment-water system’, the partners presented their results to a wide audience during our closing event.
- The PROMISCES CEN Workshop Agreement on ’Soil-sediment-water system - Solutions to deal with PMT/vPVM substances’ defines best practices, solutions, and guidelines concerning the handling of PMT/vPvM substances.
- The PROMISCES Decision Support Framework helps risk managers assess, monitor, and mitigate PM(T) substances, supporting circular economy strategies and pollution prevention in the soil-sediment-water system.
- PROMISCES, SCENARIOS and LIFE SOuRCE joined forces for a Water Projects Europe event on ‘PFAS Solutions: Technologies and Policies for Circular Water Cycles in Support of the Zero Pollution Action Plan’, providing a deep dive into their PFAS management strategies.
- The PROMISCES policy brief identifies regulatory gaps and urgent concerns related to PM(T) substances in Europe.
- During three Stakeholder Workshops in different Regions (Marche and Lazio Regions, Besòs Region, Danube River Basin), local stakeholders came together to develop strategies around the technical solutions from PROMISCES.
- In the seven Case Studies, our partners tested innovative technologies for the removal of iPM(T)s under real-life conditions. They addressed five circular economy routes in the soil-sediment-water system at different scales in six European countries.

We would like to thank all PROMISCES partners and especially coordinator Julie Lions for their dedication and the nice collaboration. It was only through their work and commitment that the project could be completed so successfully. Within PROMISCES, we have played our part in taking a step towards establishing safe water recycling and a PFAS-free future.
Many thanks also to everyone who has followed us on our website and on LinkedIn for accompanying us on our journey!
